Testing Accommodations

WCJC offers proctoring services for students who require ADA accommodations or who need to take make-up or online exams. Learn the guidelines and how to request appointments.

Accommodations Quick Guide

The WCJC Testing Centers provide proctoring services for WCJC students who require ADA accommodations that cannot be fulfilled in the classroom. This service is free for WCJC students.

Make an Appointment

As a student, you are responsible for scheduling an appointment with the testing center to take your test.
  • The appointment must be made at least two business days prior to your desired appointment time.
  • Contact your campus Testing Center via phone or email to schedule your appointment.
  • There are no walk-ins or same-day appointments.
  • An appointment must allow for completion of the test within Testing Center office hours and before the instructor's deadline.

Provide Exam Materials

Instructors are responsible for submitting key items to the testing center prior to a student taking an accommodated test.

  • Submit an Instructor Exam Form. This form must be completed each time a student takes an accommodated test at a WCJC Testing Center.
  • It is the instructor's responsibility to include all relevant information about the student's accommodations on the form.
  • Exams must be delivered to the Testing Center no later than the close of business the day before an appointment.

Come Prepared for Your Appointment

Come prepared to the Testing Center by:

  • Arriving early for your appointment. You will not be allowed to test if you are more than 10 minutes late.
  • Bringing a photo ID.
  • Leaving all personal items at home or in your car. You will not be allowed to take them into the testing room and there is limited storage available.
  • Reading our complete guidelines below for additional details.

Accommodated Testing Guidelines

Refer to our student and faculty guidelines for accommodated testing to ensure a smooth testing experience.

Due to the high volume of students, the following student guidelines have been established to assist students in receiving accommodations. These guidelines are in effect at all campus locations.

  1. All students must make their own testing appointments after communicating with their instructor.
  2. Students should contact the appropriate Testing Center to schedule an appointment a minimum of two business days in advance of the day of the test.
  3. Testing Center personnel are not aware of students' accommodation requirements other than what is specified on the Instructor Exam Form, which is based on the information provided on the ADA Action Request. Students should verify the accommodations for testing are correct. Students may bring a copy of the ADA Action Plan email to their testing appointment.
  4. If the Testing Center is unable to provide approved accommodations, students should contact the Office of Counseling and Disability Services (disabilityservices@wcjc.edu) as soon as possible.
  5. Testing appointments are scheduled on a space, time, and day availability basis and also depend on the student’s schedule and accommodation(s). It may not be possible for a student to test during regular class time. Testing appointments should not interfere with other class times.
  6. If a student is late by more than 10 minutes, he/she may be unable to test on the same day.
  7. Students must contact the Testing Center 24 hours in advance of missing an appointment. Tests may be rescheduled only with instructor/faculty member approval. Note that leniency of absences is an approved accommodation only in some very rare situations with documented chronic medical conditions. Most classes do not allow make-up exams.
  8. Students must complete testing within the scheduled appointment time window. Testing time starts at the beginning of the scheduled testing appointment window. When time is up, students must surrender test documents to the Testing personnel.
  9. Any student caught cheating on their test will have their testing materials removed immediately and the instructor/faculty member will be notified.
  10. All students using the Testing Center services should be prepared to present a photo ID (driver's license, state ID, recent student ID, passport) to Testing personnel at each testing appointmentand will only be allowed to bring in items specified on the Instructor Exam Form.
  11. Students will be required to store all personal items that they bring to the Testing Center. Cell phones must be powered off when stored.
  12. Students are not allowed to leave the testing room once they have started an exam unless breaks are allowed per the Instructor Exam Form.

Faculty guidelines for coordinating accommodated tests include:

  1. All students must make their own appointments with the Testing Center after communicating with their faculty member.
  2. Faculty members must bring the test to the testing location and/or Testing Center a minimum of one business day prior to the time of the exam.  Faculty members must complete the Instructor Exam Form and identify the accommodations that are to be provided based on the ADA Action Plan received from the Office of Counseling and Disability Services.
  3. Testing Center personnel are not aware of students' accommodation requirements.  Faculty must specify accommodations on the Instructor Exam Form based on the information provided in the ADA Action Plan.
  4. If the Testing Center is unable to provide the requested accommodations, please contact the Office of Counseling and Disability Services (disabilityservices@wcjc.edu) as soon as possible.
  5. Testing appointments are scheduled on a space, time, and day availability basis and also depend on the student’s schedule and accommodation(s).  It may not be possible for a student to test during regular class time.
  6. If a student is late by more than 10 minutes, they may be unable to test on the same day.
  7. Students should be instructed to contact the Testing Center and/or the Office of Counseling and Disability Services a minimum of one business day in advance of missing an appointment.  Tests may be rescheduled only with instructor/faculty member approval.  Note that leniency of absences may be an approved accommodation in some rare situations.
  8. Students must complete testing within the scheduled appointment time window.  Once the time is called, students must surrender test documents to the Testing personnel.
  9. Any student caught cheating on their test will have their testing materials removed immediately and the instructor/faculty member will be notified.
  10. Students should be instructed to contact the Testing Center to schedule an appointment a minimum of two business days in advance of the day of the test.

The WCJC Testing Centers will also proctor make-up exams for WCJC students if there is sufficient availability within the center schedule, within a reasonable number per instructor. An Instructor Exam Form is required for make-up exams. Make-up exams will not be administered on Saturdays, and they are not available for online classes. The WCJC Testing Centers do not proctor exams or retests for a whole or partial class.

Students who need to take a WCJC online class exam should make an appointment with the campus computer lab.
