WHARTON, TEXAS – The Wharton County Junior College Fine Arts Department will combine narration, music and singing at its upcoming concert as a means of celebrating the holiday season. “The Christmas Story” concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, at the Horton Foote Theatre in the Duson-Hansen Fine Arts Building on the Wharton campus. The event is free and open to the public.
The WCJC Band and WCJC Choir will team up for the concert, performing standard Christmas songs. A special live reading of the traditional Christmas story will be conducted by Patrick Ralls, division chair of WCJC’s Division of Communications and Fine Arts.
“Christmas is more than just days off and giving presents,” said WCJC Band Director Joe Waldrop. “There is a reason for the season.”
Choir Director Dr. Karl Paoletti said he’s excited to collaborate with the Pioneer Band.
“I really think the audience will enjoy listening to this performance of many much-loved Christmas carols,” he said.
