WHARTON, TEXAS – The Wharton County Junior College Senior Citizens Program will host a barbecue dinner fundraiser for the benefit of the area’s senior citizens.

The event is scheduled for 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at the Senior Citizens Center, which is located in the LaDieu Technology Center on WCJC’s Wharton campus, 911 Boling Highway. Tickets are $12 per plate and include barbecued chicken, trimmings and a dessert. Tickets must be purchased in advance by no later than Nov. 6 and may be purchased by calling (979) 532-6430.

Great Western Dining Services will cater the meal. Plates will be provided via a drive-through service only, with meals delivered to each vehicle by program staff. Senior Citizens Program Director Kimberly Willis said the proceeds will help the program continue to offer services, which include home meal deliveries and care packages for the area’s senior citizens.

“Our senior citizens rely on our program to lead a happier, healthier life,” Willis said. “I truly believe this program is a staple in our community. This fundraiser will enable us to continue to keep touching lives and empowering our clients.”
