WHARTON, TEXAS — To meet the growing demand for skilled workers in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Wharton County Junior College this fall will offer associate’s degree and certificate programs in AI, Data Analytics and Machine Learning.
“AI is transforming every industry, and there is a critical need for professionals who not only understand this technology but also apply it responsibly to drive innovation and decision-making,” said Dr. Muna Saqer, Program Director of WCJC’s Computer Science, IT & Networking programs. “These programs will prepare students with foundational and applied skills for today’s fastest-growing job markets.”
Students may choose from three options: an associate’s degree in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, a Level I certificate in Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics, and/or a Level II certificate in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The program encompasses a comprehensive curriculum, combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on training in such areas as machine learning, data visualization, programming and ethical AI applications.

The programs will be flexible in nature, offered in hybrid formats combining online coursework with classroom study. Graduates will be prepared to pursue careers as data specialists, AI analysts and data management professionals in various industries including finance, healthcare, technology and government.
