WHARTON, TEXAS — Fifteen students have earned their Associate of Applied Science Degree in Dental Hygiene from Wharton County Junior College. A pinning ceremony was held on May 5 at the Horton Foote Theatre on the Wharton campus.

Graduates included Paola Alanis of Needville, Adriana Barbosa of Victoria, Melanie Calderon of Sweeny, Debora Cribas of Rosenberg, Rebekah Garcia of El Campo, Melea Henke of Hallettsville, Julissa Lujan of Rosenberg, Kyleigh Maloney of Sugar Land, Lesly Ramos of Stafford, Katelyn Robbins of Richmond, Brandy Robinson of Columbus, Karla Salazar of Edna, Mary Jo Stavinoha of Needville, Dakota Tanner of Stafford and Lacey Wheaton of Iola.

Carol Derkowski provided the welcome and closing remarks for the ceremony and Gina Wilson presented the awards. Debora Cribas led the opening prayer and student speaker was Mary Jo Stavinoha.

WCJC’s nationally-recognized dental hygiene program offers a two-year Associate of Applied Science Degree that provides students with hands-on experience related to oral health. Classes are held on the Wharton campus.
