WCJC DRAMA DEPARTMENT EARNS EXCELLENT RATING AT FESTIVAL

Wharton County Junior College's Drama Department earned an Excellent rating for its
production, "Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors," at a recent play festival in Brenham.

WHARTON, TEXAS – The Wharton County Junior College Drama Department took top honors
at this year’s Texas Community College Speech and Theatre Association (TCCSTA) Play
Festival.
After performing “Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors” in the Horton Foote Theatre, the drama
department took the show on the road, traveling to Blinn College in Brenham for the
annual festival. The event was attended by WCJC and several other community colleges
from around the state.
The production received an overall rating of Excellent and WCJC students walked away
with top awards in numerous categories:
Danté Hancock — Respondent’s Choice in Acting, Excellent
Makaya Brown — Respondent’s Choice in Acting, Superior
Valerie Brown — Respondent’s Choice in Acting, Superior; Audience Favorite Award in
Acting
Aidan Meek — Respondent’s Choice in Acting, Superior; Bill Morton Challenge Award
(Recognition for Acting); Professor’s Choice Award in Acting
Ryan Martin — Respondent’s Choice in Acting, Superior
