WHARTON, TEXAS – The Wharton County Junior College Band’s “Pop and Rock Legends” concert will cover Top 40s hits from the 1950s through the 1980s.
Two performances are planned, a matinee at 3 p.m. and a repeat performance at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10. The event will be held at the Horton Foote Theatre in the Duson-Hansen Fine Arts Building on the Wharton campus. The event is free of admission and open to the public.
WCJC Band Director Joe Waldrop said the concert will cover Top 40s rock and roll hits from several decades, including songs like “Good Vibrations,” “I Get Around,” “I’ll Be There,” “Man in the Mirror,” “Thriller,” and others. The songs were originally performed by rock and pop legends like Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, The Beach Boys, Michael Jackson, Chicago, The Temptations and Aretha Franklin.
“I think that this concert will be a lot of fun,” Waldrop said. “We would love to see a full house.”
