WHARTON, TEXAS – The Wharton County Junior College Band and Choir will team up for their final concert of the Fall semester – and with a title like “Ugly Christmas Sweater Concert,” it’s sure to be a crowd pleaser.
“We would like for everyone in the audience to wear their ugly sweater,” said WCJC Band Director Joe Waldrop.
The concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at the Horton Foote Theatre in the Duson-Hansen Fine Arts Building on the Wharton campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Musical selections will include traditional holiday favorites, with the concert band and jazz band presenting such classics as “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “Sleigh Ride” and “Do You Hear What I Hear?” The choir will perform “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Silver Bells,” “Carol of the Bells,” “What Child is This?” and “Believe” from the popular animated feature, “The Polar Express.”
“The band and the choir will perform a medley of beloved carols and we will encourage the audience to sing along,” said WCJC Choir Director Karl Paoletti.
