WHARTON, TEXAS – Wharton County Junior College students enrolled in at least three credit hours for Fall 2021 may qualify for a federal grant.
Through the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Emergency Aid grants, students may receive between $500 and $2,000 depending on their Fall 2021 enrollment. Students enrolled for 12 or more credit hours may qualify for $2,000, while those enrolling for between six and 11 hours may qualify for $1,000. Students taking three to five semester hours may qualify for a $500 award.
The ARP funds are allocated through the U.S. Secretary of Education as a means of assisting students impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Applications are available on the college website at wcjc.edu. The deadline is Oct. 29, 2021. Funds are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis until the funding is depleted. Returning WCJC students who attended at least three credit hours at WCJC between March 13, 2020 and Aug. 19, 2021 and are registered for at least three credit hours for Fall 2021 may qualify for an early award disbursement of $500. Applications must be submitted by Aug. 12, 2021 to qualify for the early award disbursement.
