WHARTON, TEXAS – With dozens of programs to choose from, four conveniently located campuses, in-person and online course offerings, and a host of financial assistance, now is the perfect time to achieve your educational goals at Wharton County Junior College.

“Though the COVID-19 pandemic has been a life-changing event for all of us and has led some to consider delaying their education, we encourage people to review our Fund Your Future webpage and course offerings. WCJC is offering a variety of financial support initiatives designed to help with these challenges,” said WCJC’s Director of Marketing, Communications and Advancement Zina Carter. “There is perhaps no better time than right now to register at WCJC and begin taking classes.”

WCJC offers a variety of programs at four locations: Bay City, Richmond, Sugar Land and Wharton. Two-year associate degrees and one-year certificates are available in numerous fields of study, from healthcare-related programs to technology and business programs to vocational science.

Registration is under way for the Fall 2021 semester, which begins on Aug. 30. To help students navigate the registration process, a series of “Let’s Get Registered” events were held this summer at all four of WCJC’s campuses in Wharton, Sugar Land, Richmond and Bay City. The remaining sessions are scheduled for July 21 and Aug. 17 at the Wharton and Sugar Land campuses only.

In addition to registration assistance, WCJC is offering a wide array of scholarships, grants and installment plans through the Fund Your Future initiative, a program designed to help students cover their educational costs. One component of the initiative is the Fall 2021 First-Time-in-College Scholarship, which offers $500 to $1,000 scholarships for all first-time-in-college WCJC students taking six or more credit hours for Fall 2021.

Other assistance is available through:

  • $2,000 Fall/Spring scholarships for eligible first-time at WCJC Allied Health majors and students enrolled in Emergency Medical Services courses
  • COVID-19 Emergency Relief Aid grants
  • Tuition & Fee Installment Plan
  • Discounted Tuition & Fees when students take more than 13 hours of academic transfer courses. Tuition and fees will be waived for any courses above 13 credit hours
  • Financial Aid Special Condition Request for students who have faced a reduction in household income due to the pandemic
  • Pell Grants and Federal Student Loans (complete the FAFSA at studentaid.gov)
