WHARTON, TEXAS – Wharton County Junior College athletes earned a host of All-Conference and All-Region honors after completing their spring seasons.
The Pioneers baseball team wrapped up its season on May 8, losing to Blinn College, 0-7, in the Region XIV Sub-Regional Tournament played in Tyler. The team finished the season with a 26-27 overall record and a 17-13 conference record.
The Pioneers volleyball team wrapped up its season at the end of March with a 2-13 overall record.
Players recognized for outstanding achievement included:
Baseball – Stanley Tucker of Richmond, All-Conference Offensive Most Valuable Player for Region XIV South, First Team All-Region and First Team All-Conference; Jackson Kiddy of Sweeny, First Team All-Conference; Kevin Black of Bellville, Second Team All-Conference; Ben Columbus of North Vancouver, B.C. Second Team All-Conference; Conner Fremin of Katy, Second Team All-Conference; Antonio Gauthier of Lake Charles, La., Second Team All-Conference; Andrew Hernandez of Corpus Christi, Second Team All-Conference.
Volleyball – Tori Arrington of Boling, Second Team All-Conference; and Elizabeth McKenzie of Katy, All-Conference Honorable Mention.
In addition to athletic accomplishments, WCJC players were also recognized for excellence in the classroom. Region XIV All-Academic Team honors were earned by players who completed at least 30 hours of college work while maintaining at least a 3.25 GPA.

Baseball – Ramsey Amador of Edinburg, Kevin Black of Bellville, Brett Brown of Sinton, Conner Fremin of Katy, Andrew Girod of San Antonio, Luke Haas of Pearland and Jackson Kiddy of Sweeny.
Volleyball – Araceli Benitez of Corpus Christi and Mikah Sloan of Victoria.
