WHARTON, TEXAS – There’s something to capture the imagination of every child at the 2021 Wharton County Junior College Kids’ College, from computer workshops to Greek mythology.
Registration is now open for the program, which is scheduled from June 14 through July 22 at the WCJC Richmond Campus. Three sessions are offered, with morning courses reserved for students in kindergarten to first grade and afternoon classes held for second to 8th graders. Course offerings cover a wide variety of topics, from computer game development to math skills to origami.
“We are very excited to be able to offer the Kids’ College program this summer at the WCJC Richmond Campus after not being able to hold the program last year due to the pandemic,” said WCJC’s Director of Continuing Education Tamara Sealy. “This program is an excellent opportunity for school-aged children to brush up on their academics, learn a new skill or develop a hobby. Our teachers and staff strive to provide high-quality instruction, foster a safe environment and focus on having fun.”
Kids’ College operates 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with the exception of the week of July 5.
Session I is scheduled from June 14 through June 24, Session II is scheduled from June 28 through July 9 and Session III will take place from July 12 through July 22.
One change this year is that there will be no meals served. Kids attending morning classes should plan to eat lunch after they are done for the day, while afternoon participants should eat before they arrive. There are specific rules as to drop-off and pick-up times, along with safety protocols that have been put into place in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
