VIRTUAL SAFE SPRING BREAK

WHARTON, TEXAS – Wharton County Junior College will host a virtual event to remind students of the risks associated with Spring Break.

“Virtual Safe Spring Break” will be held online from March 8 through March 11. Students can participate by logging into Blackboard, clicking on the “Student Resources” tab and then finding the “Safe Spring Break” tab in the left navigation pane.

Live online workshops will be held throughout the event, with presentations made by the college’s counseling staff on such topics as healthy relationships, protect your identity and anxiety and depression. Other presentations and information will be include COVID-19 prevention, vaping, human trafficking, sun and water safety, suicide awareness and much more.

This is the first time the annual event has been held online.

“The decision to make this year’s Safe Spring Break a virtual experience was made in deference to the safety of our students and staff,” said WCJC Counselor Kay Gardner. “We also feel this will make participating more convenient.”
