WHARTON, TEXAS – From resume development to career outlook in a host of fields, Wharton
County Junior College is offering virtual informational sessions designed to help
students get a leg up on finding a rewarding career.
“The Pioneer Career Development and Information Series” is a three-part online program
aimed at assisting WCJC students, prospective students and recent alumni with discovering
potential job opportunities and preparing for the rigors of finding a job. The 45-minute
sessions are offered free of charge by the college’s academic advising and counseling
staff.
An initial session covered the basics of preparing a resume and developing interview
skills. Additional sessions include the following:
- Career Spotlight A – This workshop is intended for any prospective or current WCJC
student and spotlights WCJC health careers, including EMT/Paramedic, Nursing (LVN,
ADN and RN), Dental Hygiene, Health Information Technology, Human Services, Physical
Therapy Assistant and Radiologic Technology. Sessions are at 3 p.m. on May 27 and
May 28.
- Career Spotlight B – This session highlights WCJC’s vocational programs including
Business, Computer Science, Paralegal Studies, Early Childhood Development, Law Enforcement,
Police Academy, HVAC, Automotive Technology, Cosmetology, Electronics Engineering
Technology, Engineering Design, Manufacturing Technology, Process Technology, Nuclear
Power Technology and Welding. Sessions begin at 3 p.m. on June 2 and June 3.
- Series Session 3 – This workshop is aimed at all WCJC students and assists with career
assessment, goal setting and decision making. The sessions begin at 3 p.m. on June
9 and 10.
