PTK CREATES GARDEN AS HONORS IN ACTION PROJECT

Wharton County Junior College students Tyler Korff of Markham and Brianna Hanc of Richmond check the progress of the plants in the community garden, created behind WCJC’s Richmond campus. Established in the Fall of 2018 as an “Honors in Action” project for the WCJC Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, the garden has been planted with kale, spinach and broccoli and is ready for harvesting. An award was recently issued to the WCJC PTK chapter to recognize it as a four-star chapter and to further recognize the garden as a community service project. Volunteers are needed to maintain the garden and assist with the harvest and may contact WCJC biology instructor Andrew Berezin at Berezina@wcjc.edu or WCJC government instructor Liz Rexford at lizr@wcjc.edu.
