WHARTON, TEXAS – Wharton County Junior College is hosting an event designed to help students make safe choices over Spring Break.
Deemed “Safe Spring Break,” the annual event is a collaborative effort between the college and area law enforcement and transportation departments to stress the dangers of driving under the influence and texting while operating a motor vehicle. This year’s event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, at the Pioneer Student Center on the Wharton Campus. Admission is free and all WCJC students are welcome to attend.
WCJC’s Spring Break will be held from March 11 through March 15.
Participating organizations include the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), the Bay Area Council on Drugs & Alcohol (BACODA), the Matagorda Episcopal Health Outreach Program (MEHOP), the Wharton Police Department, Texas A&M University, Texas AgriLife Extension Service, the WCJC Police Academy, the WCJC Department of Security & Public Safety, WCJC Emergency Medical Services, Great Western Dining Service, El Campo Police Department, the Department of Public Safety, the Wharton County Sheriff’s Department, Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD), the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission and a special visit from Pioneer Dan.
