WHARTON, TEXAS – Wharton County Junior College instructors have been recognized for their dedication and commitment to their particular fields of study by the National Institute of Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD). Eight WCJC faculty members will receive NISOD Excellence Awards for 2017-2018 at the International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence this May in Austin.
Honorees include:
· Brenda Bode – Instructor of Dental Hygiene
· Jami Hughes – Instructor of Drama
· Jodie Hutchinson – Instructor of Psychology
· Debra Lemson – Instructor of Music
· Lara Ondruch – Instructor of EMS
· Mushira Shamsi – Instructor of Education and Early Childhood Development
· Amanda Smith – Instructor of Biology
· Yvonne Smith – Instructor of Mathematics
“These instructors have put in the necessary time and effort to ensure their students are successful,” said WCJC President Betty McCrohan. “We are very proud of their accomplishments.”
Each recipient will be honored during the Austin conference, receiving a specially cast, pewter medallion hung on a burnt-orange ribbon.
Names, titles and colleges of all award recipients will be included in the event’s booklet.
“Recognizing those individuals who have contributed to student success and their colleges’ mission is something we look forward to doing each year,” said NISOD Executive Director Dr. Edward J. Leach. “The extraordinary work of these men and women includes not only what they do for their students and colleagues, but what they do for the communities in which they live and work. We’re honored to be able to play a part in celebrating their achievements.”
