In the WCJC art program, you’ll experience student-centered learning environments designed to help you explore art production, historical-artistic contexts and aesthetics. Learn directly from professional artists and historians, and get hands-on experience in digital media, drawing and more.

Program Details

As a full-time WCJC student, you can earn your Associate of Arts degree in just two years. After exploring core classes in the arts, learn the fundamentals of composition, drawing, painting, and more to prepare for a career in art or transfer to a four-year institution. Review the academic map for a recommended course of study.

Our art program is for both students who want to transfer to a four-year university and students who want to enter their career after achieving their A.A. With an art degree, you can land one of many rich and rewarding roles, including:

Dianne Curtis

Instructor of Art

Dianne Curtis has taught art for more than 10 years and has worked as a professional graphic designer for numerous Houston corporations and agencies, such as Cooper Oil Tool, Bonnie Group Advertising, and CBS Printing. She attended four graduate schools (Miami University Online, Academy of Art, Houston Baptist University, and the University of Houston), earned an M.Ed. from the University of Houston, and is currently working on an MFA in Graphic Design and Illustration at the Academy of Art. Ms. Curtis has studied digital design, drawing, painting, illustration, and metalsmithing and has won numerous national and local awards.
